Matchstick Ventures Gets $30M For Investments In Rockies, Elsewhere
Matchstick Ventures, an early-stage, venture capital firm that invests in software companies, has raised $30M for its second fund, Matchstick Ventures Fund II, the firm said today. The startup investment fund is led by Natty Zola and Ryan Broshar, two veterans of Foundry Group and Techstars. According to the firm, it will invest in companies in the North, the Rockies, and companies across the Techstars ecosystem. The firm said it will write first checks of around $500,000 in its companies, with "selective" follow up investments of $1 to $2M. Zola was co-founder of Everlater, which came out of Techstars, and has so far led six Techstars Boulder accelerator programs; Broshar was the founder of a student publication guide, University Guide, which he founded when he was in college at the University of Minneota; he also helped found eta.MN and Twin Cities Startup Week, and has been running the Techstars Retail program in Minneapolis.
