Golden, Colorado-based ANGI Homeservices--the parent company behind
HomeAdvisor and Angie's List--said on Thursday afternoon that it has agreed to buy Handy Technologies, the online marketplace which connects people with independent home services professionals. Financial terms of the buy were not announced. According to Handy, the deal will help it extend its reach into the "gig economy" space. Handy's marketplace helps people looking for everything from home cleaning to furniture assembly with screened professionals in those areas. ANGI Homeservices is led by CEO Chris Terrill. Handy's co-founder and CEO, Oisin Hanrahan, as well as co-founder and COO Umang Dua will remain with Handy, which will continue to be based in New York.
