Amazon Takes Up Price War With Overstock.com
It looks like Amazon.com and Overstock.com are officially in a pricing war, as Amazon.com has begun broadly lowering its book prices on titles, discounting many bestselling hardcover titles to between 50% and 65% of retail. According to reports, those are the lowest ever seen on Amazon.com. The move comes only days after Overstock.com declared that it would undercut Amazon.com's book prices by 10 percent, in a bid to win over new customers. Overstock.com is based in Salt Lake City.
