Micron Buys Elpida For $2.5 Billion
Boise, Idaho-based memory maker Micron said yesterday that it is paying $2.5 billion for Japanese memory maker Elpida. The deal includes $750M in cash, plus $1.75 billion in milestone payments through 2019. Micron also said that it has reached a separate deal to acquire Powerchip Technologies' 24 percent share in Rexchip Electronics Corporation, in a $334M transaction.
