MapQuest said this week that it has launched a new, online service called
Atlas, which it said was an "encyclopedia-like" service highlight information about countries, continents, and more. The new service allows users to look up any country, and pull relevant data about the geography, people, politics, and information. MapQuest said the service is targeted at educators, students, as well as the general public. Among features of the new Atlas feature are the ability to compare different countries and their populations and other relevant information. MapQuest is tapping the CIA world factbook for the information on the countries.
