COPAN Systems, a maker of data storage devices for the backup and archiving market, revealed Wednesday that it has teamed with Innovative Technologies Inc. to provide that firm's federal customers with a low-cost, energy-efficient data storage and archiving solution. According to COPAN, the joint offering will reduce power and cooling requirements and data center storage costs. The device, COPAN said, also proactively satisfies a new federal mandate that requires governmental agencies to reduce energy consumption by 2015. Based in Chantilly, Va., Innovative Technologies provides systems integration and operations support services to government and commercial clients. Headquartered in Longmont, Colo., COPAN Systems is a privately held company backed by Austin Ventures, Globespan Capital, Pequot Ventures, Credit Suisse and Battery Ventures.
