Ray Noorda, founder and former CEO of Novell, died Monday from complications from Alzheimer's disease. Noorda, 82, died at his home in Orem, according to a statement from Noorda's family. Noorda established Novell as one of Utah's biggest employers and spearheaded Utah's entry into the technology sector. He served as Novell's Chairman, President, and CEO from 1983 until 1995, when he joined venture capital investment group The Canopy Group.
