Micron Gives $1M To USU

Logan, Utah-based Utah State University (USU) said Thursday that its College of Engineering is the recipient of a $1M grant from the Micron Technology Foundation. USU said that Micron will give it the $1M over the next four years, to create a "Micron Research Center" to host research and instruction in emerging hardware and software technology, and particularly in reconfigurable hardware technologies. The new center will focus on memory device design and manufacturing, and related topics. USU said it expects to involve 10 undergraduates, six masters, and two doctoral students each year. Micron Technology Foundation is a nonprofit funded by Micron to fund education and charitable activities. The funding is not the first for USU from Micron, which has provided funding and scholarships in the past to USU.
