Micron Gets Japanese Clearance On Elpida Buy

Boise, Idaho-based semiconductor maker Micron Technology reported this morning that it has received clearance from the Japan Fair Trade Commission on its acquisition of Elpida. Micron says it still requires approval by Elpida creditors, the Tokyo District Court and regulatory approvals in other countries to complete the deal. Micron said it would buy Elpida for $2.5 billion in July.
