Microchip Buys Novocell

Chandler, Arizona-based semiconductor developer Microchip Technology said this morning that its subsidiary, Silicon Storage Technology, has acquired Novocell Semiconductor. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Novocell is a provider of non-volatile, memory IP. Microchip said the acquisition will help boost its set of solutions and memory IP offerings. Novocell is based in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.
