Me.dium Becomes OneRiot, Kills Sidebar

Boulder-based Me.dium, a social search engine which lets people share their web surfing with friends, told its users today that it has changed its name to OneRiot. According to the firm, as of November 11th, it will shift all of its focus towards a search engine service which ranks results based on current popularity within its community. The firm said the Me.dium Social Search Sidebar, the firm's search widget, will "cease to exist," and its browser add-ons for Internet Explorer and Firefox will become a new product called Pulsechecker. The firm said the add-ons will provide access to the "hottest content on the web," but did not describe further changes to the add-ons.
