McDATA Launches Virtual Tape Product

Broomfield, Colorado-based McDATA has launched a new virtual tape library product, targeted at the backup and recovery market. McDATA said that its new Virtual tape Library (VTL) provides disk-to-disk-to-tape capability. Virtual Tape Library systems are used by enterprise customers to backup systems to disk. VTL systems emulate standard tape backup systems, which allows administrators to use existing backup software to connect to the backup system. McDATA said that its new VTL product is available directly through the firm and its resellers.
