MapQuest Launches US Open Map Site

Denver-based Mapquest, the mapping site owned by AOL, said today that it has expanded its OpenStreetMap efforts to include the U.S. The firm, which has been experimenting with OpenStreetMap in Europe and Asia, said it has launched Open.Mapquest.com, a new site based on OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. The new site allows users to add and update mapping data. Mapquest said the site includes the same features as the ten sites it currently runs using OpenStreetMap in Europe and Asia. The OpenStreetMap project allows users to provide their own feedback on maps, including correcting speed limits, adding new streets and trails, as well as attractions.
