Limelight Networks Signs PBS
Video content delivery service Limelight Networks revealed Thursday that the Public Broadcasting System will use the Tempe, Ariz.-based company's delivery infrastructure to provide PBS viewers with live streaming and on-demand video content. The financial impact of the new business was not disclosed. A non-profit organization, PBS comprises 356 member stations and boasts an on-air and online viewership of 115 million people. Limelight explained that its partnership with PBS will help local PBS stations—some of which might have limited resources—distribute their original content online. Limelight added that several stations are already using its service, including KPSD South Dakota, WNET New York and WQED Pittsburgh.
