Juniper Systems Rolls New Geolocation Device

Logan, Utah-based data collection hardware developer Juniper Systems said Thursday that it has launched a new product, a GPS/GNSS receiver, which provides real time, precision geolocation data to users in the natural resources, utilities and public services, geomatics, agriculture, industrial, and military markets. The company said the new, GPS receiver--the Geode--is a rugged device, which uses GNSS data information which it can provide to rugged handhelds, Windows, Windows Mobile, and Android devices. The devices--unlike smartphones--specifically offer up very high accuracy location information. The company says its accuracy is "sub-meter", where most equipment has accuracy of around 3-5 meters -- good enough for most consumers, but not sufficient for many commercial applications.
