JDA Software Wins Virgin Stores Account

JDA Software Group Inc., a publisher of supply chain and revenue management applications, revealed Tuesday that a French specialty retailer has adopted JDA solution suites in hopes of improving sales and customer service levels. The financial impact of the customer win was not disclosed. JDA, which is headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., identified its new client as Virgin Stores SA. According to JDA, Virgin specializes in the sale of cultural products—books, CDs, DVDs and games—and operates 30 large stores throughout France and five smaller stores in airports and train stations under the "Virgin Megastore" brand. A French private equity firm, Butler Capital Partners, acquired the chain in February 2008. JDA added that Virgin plans to launch a pilot program featuring JDA solutions for its non-publishing products in April.
