Intermap Powers Smart Headlight System
Denver-based Intermap Technologies is applying the firm's 3D mapping database to a new, automotive lighting system, the firm said Wednesday, and is being used to automatically turn a vehicle's headlines depending on bends in the road. According to Intermap, its products are being used as part of a joint development effort with Visteon Corp., to develop an adaptive front-lighting system which uses mapping data to extract where a vehicle is going, and turns the headlights towards those upcoming bends automatically. Financial details of the joint development effort were not disclosed. The firms said the system has been successfully road tested in Germany, though the firms did not detail availability plans for the system. Visteon is based in Michigan.
