Intel Looks To Cut 1000 In New Mexico

Intel is planning to cut more than 1,000 jobs at the company's Rio Rancho, New Mexico fab, the firm said today, as the company looks to close its 200-mm fab operations. Intel first opened its plant in New Mexico in 1980, and according to Intel is now the largest private-sector industrial employer in Albuquerque. The plant develops flash memory chips, along with Intel Celeron and Pentium processors.
