GoDaddy Starts Registering gTLDs

Scottsdale, Arizona-based domain registrar GoDaddy said this morning that it has begun to sell pre-registration on the ICANN's new domain name extensions, the broad extension of global top level domains (gTLDs) that the Internet domain industry has been working on for the last few years. According to GoDaddy, it has started launching pre-registration of .UNO, .MENU, .BUILD and .LUXURY, the first of what GoDaddy says are 700 additional domain name extension expected to be available over the next 24 months. Those domain name extensions go beyond the more common .COM, .ORG, and .NET extensions users have become used to using to navigate to Internet web sites.
