GoDaddy Makes Connecting Services To Domains Easier With New API

In a bid to help domain name owners to better connect to third party, web services, Scottsdale, Arizona-based GoDaddy said on Tuesday that it has rolled out a new protocol and API, which allows domain name owners to wire up their domains to web services. According to GoDaddy, it has launched the Domain Connect Initiative, which is an open set of APIs which lets customers quickly configure domains to point at websites and other platforms. GoDaddy said that its protocol has the support of Microsoft, Squarespace, Shopify, eNom, WiseStamp and Name.com, and has been published as an "informational standard" with the IETF, to allow any domain or cloud/web service provider to take advantage of the API.
