GM To Hire 1,000 In Phoenix For High Tech Center

General Motors said this week that it plans to hire 1,000, high tech employees in Chandler, Arizona, as part of an effort to recruit IT professionals for the company. According to GM, Chandler is one of four "Information Technology Innovation Centers" it has created across the country, including one in Austin, Texas; Roswell, Georgia, and Warren, Michigan. GM said it selected Chandler by looking at the various, IT talent-rich areas of the country, which also had a strong community, lower cost of living and a high-tech industry presence. GM said the new centers will be staffed with software development, database administration, and system analysts. GM said it will begin hiring in Phoenix effective April 1st. It says its permanent building in the area will be open in the first quarter of 2014, and it will be operating out of a temporary location until then.
