Freescale Scores ZigBee Win With NEC
Tempe, Arizona-based Freescale Semiconductor has scored a win for its ZigBee platform at NEC Engineering. Freescale announced this morning that NEC Engineering Ltd. will use its ZigBee platform for a new, embedded module. ZigBee is a low power wireless standard targeted at consumer markets and monitoring applications. NEC's new ZigBee module is targeted at fire alarms, smoke and humidity sensors, power management, and other applications, and can operate on a dry cell battery for up to two years. Freescale's ZigBee platform provides an RF chip, low power microcontroller, and support for 802.15.4 and ZigBee protocols.
