EMC Eyes Mozy

Data storage giant EMC is reportedly in the midst of acquiring American Fork, Utah-based online storage service Mozy, according to rumors reported by the technology blog TechCrunch. The deal is rumored to be worth $76M. Devin Knighton, a spokesperson for Berkeley Data Sytems, would not comment on the rumors. Mozy, also known as Berkeley Data Systems, is funded by Wasatch Venture Fund, Tim Draper of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, and Drew Major, co-founder of Novell. The company has raised at least $2M in venture funding from its backers. Mozy operates an online data storage service which allows users to back up their personal computers to the Internet.
