DigitalGlobe In $3.55B Deal

Longmont-based DigitalGlobe, a provider of high resolution, satellite images, said this week that it has scored a $3.55 billion deal to supply the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency (NGA). The deal is split between $2.88 to supply satellite imagery to the agency, plus up to $750 million for value added products, infrastructure enhancements and other services. DigitalGlobe said the amount would be paid at approximately $20.8M per month for the first four contract years, increasing to $25M a month for the remaining six years on the contract. As a results of the contract, DigitalGlobe said it would immediately begin procurement and construction of its next satellite, WorldView-3, expected to launch by the end of 2014.
