COPAN Systems Expands, Hires Execs

Longmont, Colorado-based data storage systems firm COPAN Systems said today that the firm is expanding its facilities and has hired a number of executives, citing an increase in customer demand for its solutions. The firm said that it has invested $3M in new development facilities in Longmont, as well as a new East Coast engineering center in Southborough, Massachusetts. The firm also said that it has hired David Dew as the firm's VP of Engineering, along with hiring a number of development managers, sales VPs, and country managers in China and Korea. COPAN Systems develops data storage systems which use hard drives for long term data storage, using power management techniques to power down drives for most of the time; the system replaces the use of tape and optical storage for long term data storage. The company is venture backed by Austin Ventures, Globespan Capital, Pequot Ventures, Credit Suisse and Battery Ventures.
