COPAN Creates New Industry Group

Longmont, Colorado-based COPAN Systems announced this morning that it has created a new storage industry group focused on persistent data management. COPAN, which develops disk-based replacement systems for tape backup, said that the new group includes Sun Microsystems, Symantec, FalconStor, and Seagate Technology. The group is working on Persistent Data Storage Architecture (PDSA) to address persistent data management. Other companies involved include Xiotech, Revivion, seven Ten Storage, WysDM, and Index Engines. COPAN is backed by Austin Ventures, Globespan Capital, Pequot Ventures, and Credit Suisse.
