Cool Planet Energy Systems Raises $19.4M

Greenwood Village, Colorado-based biofuels startup Cool Planet Energy Systems said Tuesday that it has raised another $19.4M in funding, towards a second close of its Series D funding round. The biofuels company, which is developing technology to convert cellulosic biomass into biofuels, said the funding will go towards the engineering design of its first commercial facility. Cool Planet recently relocated its headquarters here from Southern California, as it follows a number of biofuels companies who have found Colorado's regulatory environment more conductive to moving into commercial operation. The company has previously raised funding from General Electric, Google Ventures, BP, ConocoPhillips, NRG and the Constellation Energy division of Exelon. More information »
