Cool Planet Collects $20M For Biochar Technology
Greenwood Village, Colorado-based Cool Planet said this week that it has raised $19.3M in a Series A funding round, to work on commercialization of the company's biochar product, Cool Fauna Engineered Biocarbon. The funding was led by AgustÃn Coppel and North Bridge Venture Partners. The company's products convert CO2 into "biochar", a form of carbon which can be used to improve the growth of plants, and also has the side effect of sequestering CO2 into the soil for hundreds of years. The company says it has now raised $30M in the last 18 months for its efforts.
