Control4 Named In Patent Suit

Salt Lake City-based Control4 is one of a number of firms named in a patent infringement lawsuit filed in the Texas Eastern District Court yesterday. The lawsuit, filed by Sipco, a developer of wireless technology, was filed against Control4 Corporation, Digi International Inc., Home Automation Inc., Schneider Electric Buildings Americas, Inc., Schneider Electric USA, Inc. and Siemens Industry, Inc.--all companies active in the Zigbee wireless networking market. Sipco, which holds a number of patent in the area, has been active in patent litigation against firms using wireless technology; the firm says its technology technology was developed before Zigbee, before Zwave, and before the 802.15.4 wireless standard.
