Click Defense Steps Back In Google Lawsuit

Fort Collins-based Click Defense, the lead in a class action suit filed against search engine giant Google, said that it is seeking to withdraw as representative plaintiff in the suite. Click Defense said that the company would like to concentrate on its efforts to help clients develop claims for click fraud. Instead, AIT, a web hosting provider in the mid-Atlantic, has stepped forward as lead plaintiff. Click Defense said it remains a member of the class. The company had claimed that Google has refused to take steps against click fraud, even though the company was well aware of the practice. Google has stated that it believes the suit is without merit. Click fraud is the use of false pay-per-click on advertising to either generate additional income for web sites, or by competitors to cost their competition advertising money.
