Broad Reach Engineering Ships Hardened PowerPC
Tempe, Arizona-based Broad Reach Engineering, a developer of hardware and software for the aerospace industry, has rolled out a new PowerPC CPU which is radiation hardened for aerospace use. The firm said that its Rad-Hard BRE440 PowerPC CPU is focused on on-orbit, interplanetary space, nuclear, defense, and medical applications. The new processor is based on IB M's PowerPC 440 core, and build on Honeywell's rad-hard HX5000 150nm SOI proces. The firm said the firm is already using the processor in its own, GPS receivers and 3U single board computer products.
