Aspen Avionics Gets $12.8M

Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Aspen Avionics, a developer of enhanced, flight display systems, has raised $12.8M in a funding round, the firm said today. The round came from Granite Ventures, Sun Mountain Capital, Signal Peak Ventures, EPIC Ventures, Fort Washington Capital Partners and New Mexico Community Capital, in addition to an investment group led by Dr. Jachn B. "Jack" Mowell. Aspen Avionics said the capital will go to assure its growth in the industry. Mowell is the former Executive Director and Chairman of EMS Technologies, a provider of communications products to the classified military, mobile, and airborne wireless market. Both Mowell and Captain Joseph D. Burns will join the company's board with the funding. Aspen's displays are installed into both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, and support advanced mapping, terrain, and other features. The funding is the firm's third round. More information »
