Arrow Electronics Ties On Certified, Discontinued Components

Centennial, Colorado-based electronic components distributor Arrow Electronics said today that it is partnering with another company, Resurgent Semiconductor, to help solve a big bugaboo for electronic designers and companies: the rapid product life cycle for components. Arrow said it will be working with Resurgent to provide its customers with certified semiconductor components previously discontinued by their original manufacturers. Discontinued components are a huge issue for electronics manufacturers, particularly in the defense, aerospace and industrial markets, who are often forced into redesign cycles or a big investment in discontinued "end of life" parts for their products, due to very fast cycle times by component makers geared more towards consumer products. Financial details of the deal were not disclose
