Ancestry.com Expands African-American Records

Provo, Utah-based Ancestry.com, the historical research site of The Generations Network, said Thursday that it has expanded its collection of online family history records for African Americans. According to the site, it has added the Freedman's Marriage Records and Southern Claims Commission Records to its collection. The Freedman's Marriage Records come from 1865 to 1868; the Southern Claims Commission collected claims after the Civil War against property seizures by the Union Army. The Generations Network operates a network of sites focused on genealogy and family history.
