Aircell Has First Install Of New High Speed Internet Product

Broomfield, Colorado-based Aircell, a developer of airborne communications and Internet services hardware, said Tuesday that it has installed its first ATG 5000 High Speed Internet unit. The firm said the install was on a California-based Gulfstream G200 operated by FlightWorks, Inc. Aircell said its ATG 5000 provides standalone high speed Internet, and is an alternative to the firm's Aircell Axxess products, which also provide voice support. The new product supports both wired or Wi-Fi connections within aircraft. The firm is targeting the new hardware towards business aircraft. Aircell said its ATG 5000 began shipping last month.
