Aircell Gets $176M

Aircell, a developer of in-flight Internet and communications systems, said late Thursday that the firm has raised $176M in a private placement, which will go to fund network expansion and growth at the firm. The company, which has operations in Broomfield, Colorado, said that the funding came from unidentified new and existing investors. Aircell runs the Gogo Inflight Internet service, along with similar services for private airplanes. The firm said it is now providing its GoGo service on more than 700 commercial airlines on a total of nine airlines. Aircell's Colorado operations are focused on business aviation, and the firm also has operations in Illinois focused on commercial aviation. More information »
