Zaniac Uses Minecraft Modding To Team STEM To Kids

How to you make learning about science, math, and other topics interesting to kids? Park City-based Zaniac, which runs a number of after school programs and camps in Utah, thinks it has the answer: teaching kids how to mod Minecraft, not to mention program their own microcontrollers. The company is teaching kids as young as second grade how to tinker with electronic circuits, and has kids in fourth through eighth grade learning such complex software as JDK, Eclipse, and Gimp for Minecraft modding. The company says its efforts come as it believes many of its students will be working in STEM-related fields in the future.
