UQM Technologies Starts Volume Production Line

Longmont, Colorado-based UQM Technologies reported this morning that it has begun volume production on a new line of products from the firm. The company said it has started production of its PowerPhase Pro 100 electric propulsion system, with an expected high volume capacity of 40,000 units on two shifts. The firm claimed the move will result in a "substantial increase" in its revenue and validation that it can deliver volumes that automakers expect. The company did not say if it will be running the line at full capacity, and if any customers were expecting delivery of those systems from the new line. The company is targeting it sproducts for electric, hybrid electric, plug-in hybrid electric and fuel cell electric vehicles.
