UQM Technologies Acquires Longmont Manufacturing Facility

Frederick, Colorado-based UQM Technologies, a developer of high efficiency electric motors and related electronics for the alternative energy and hybrid vehicle markets, said today that it has acquired a 129,304-square foot facility on a 30-acre site in Longmont, to support growth in its manufacturing operations. The firm said the new site will house the company's engineering, vehicle integration, and headquartesr staff, as well as its high volume motor and electronic manufacturing operations. The firm said it paid $7.585M for the facility, with roughly half of that cost being funded by its $45M DOE stimulus grant. The site also includes about 30,000 square feet of office space. UQM specifically said the larger facility will help it support manufacturing for all-electric vehicle manufacturer Coda Automotive. The new site is about a mile from its older facility.
