Tendril Powers Crowdsourcing Project In The Netherlands

Boulder-based Tendril, the venture-backed develops of software for managing smart grid and energy applications, reported today that it is partnering with Essent N.V., the largest energy company in the Netherlands, to power a crowdsourced energy application project. Tendril explained that Essent it using its Tendril Connect platform to provide data from smart meter-enabled residential customers to web and mobile application developers. That data will be used by those developers to create and test their applications, as part of an upcoming software coding competition being held this week. Essent is awarding cash prizes to developers who build the best apps using Tendril's APIs--with the hopes that those applications can be further expanded and made available to consumers participating in the Essent program. Tendril is venture backed by VantagePoint Capital Partners, Siemens Venture Capital (SVC), Good Energies, RRE Ventures and GE.
