SendGrid Adds Automatic Email Encryption

Worried about people, companies, or governments tapping into your email? Boulder-based SendGrid announced that it has added automatic encryption for emails through its email delivery service, which will automatically use encrypted connections with mailbox provides to keep email messages being intercepted while in transit. According to SendGrid, it is using a feature called Transport Layer Security (TLS) Encryption, which automatically encrypts emails when connecting with such providers as Gmail, Yahoo and AOL. SendGrid says it started automatic encryption of those emails at no extra cost, due to an "age of increased eavesdropping and data tampering", including NSA surveillance. SendGrid's use of TLS protects emails while they are being sent across the Internet -- however, TLS does not protect against entities from extracting emails from email providers legally or illegally.
