Orbotix Opens Pre-Orders

Boulder-based Orbotix, the maker of the Sphero robotic ball, said this morning that it has opened up pre-orders for the device. The Sphero is a robotic ball which is controlled by smart phone, and which includes an open API, combined smart phone and robot games, and other applications. Orbotix did not say when it hopes to deliver its first product, but the company has been aiming at deliveries by the end of this year. The Sphero can be controlled by either iPhone or Android phones. Orbotix is venture backed by Highway 12 Ventures and Foundry Group.
