Ok.com Takes On Family Friendly Movie Ratings, Reviews

In what looks like a major move to expand beyond its traditional, media businesses, Deseret Digital Media, the media firm behind the Deseret News newspaper and broadcaster KSL said it has launch Ok.com, a new site that provides ratings and reviews of movies. The new site is focused on families, and in particular helping parents and families find appropriate films to watch or rent. Deseret Digital Media said the move is part of a strategy to expand into new, digital markets, and that it will also be syndicating content on the site to other publishers, including newspapers, broadcasters, and others in Seattle, Phoenix, Pennsylvania, and Ohio. Among features of the Ok.com site--a new URL which Desert Digital Media said it recently acquired--are ability to see color coded age ranges for movies, and ability for users to comment on movies. The site also allows users to find video rentals and purchase movie tickets. The family focus for Ok.com is not unexpected for Deseret Digital Media, which is owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
