MyHeritage, FamilySearch In Major Strategic Partnership

Salt Lake City-based MyHeritage, and FamilySearch.org, the family history organization sponsored by the LDS Church, said late Monday that they are in a "significant" strategic partnership, which will apply MyHeritage's technology to the massive trove of records being accumulated by FamilySearch. Financial details of the deal were not announced. FamilySearch.org says it is the largest genealogy organization in the world. The two said that MyHeritage will provide FamilySearch with access ot its technology, with FamilySearch offering up billions of global historical records and family history profiles. FamilySearch has a massive database of genealogy records, the result of years of work by the Mormon church to compile family history. The group has been accumulating records since 1894 for its trove of data, from archives, libraries, and churches worldwide.
