Millenniata Signs Manufacturing Partner

Salt Lake City-based Millenniata, the developer of optical disk technology aimed at eliminating "bit rot" and reliability issues on DVDs, which is based on research from Brigham Young University, has signed a new manufacturing partner for its technology. The firm said it has entered into a manufacturing and licensing agreement with RITEK Corporation, a manufacturer of optical storage media, to manufacture its M-DISC optical disks. Financial details of the deal between the companies were not disclosed. The two said that RITEK manufactured M-DISCS will be available through Millenniata's global sales and distribution channel. Millenniata has developed coatings technology, which provides permanent storage onto DVD compatible disks, using a rock-like material which does not have many of the long term storage issues related to standard optical disks. The company is headed by Paul Brockbank.
