McDATA Upgrades SAN Router

Broomfield, Colorado-based McDATA said today that the firm has upgraded the company's Eclipse SAN Routers, storage networking equipment which is used by customers for routing between Fibre Channel storage area newtorks. According to McDATA, the upgraded Eclipse 2640 and Eclipse 1620 routers increase the scalability of the equipment, with support for preferred pathing and SAN router fail-over, WAN bandwidth limiting; QOS supporting including VLAN tagging and DSCP support; and better security features. The upgraded hardware now supports SSHv2 and RADIUS-based authentication, standards used in the networking world to ensure secure connections to equipment. McDATA's routers are used to connect SAN storage, servers, and equipment between isolated networks or across data centers.
