MapQuest Updates Map Service

Denver-based MapQuest, the online mapping service owned by AOL, told its users today that it has updates its service to include new map styles and imagery. Among the updates, MapQuest said it added new terrain and vegetation imagery at zoom levels 4-9 on the service, showing geographic features where previously the mapping site only showed blank spaces. The firm also swapped in a new color scheme on roads to make it easier to read street names; shaded building footprints in larger cities; and a new hybrid imagery view--similar to Google's--which shows both satellite images and roads on the same screen.
