InsideSales.com Gets Patent

Provo, Utah-based InsideSales.com, the developer of sales automation and analytics software headed by Dave Elkington, reported it has been awarded a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The firm said it was issued U.S. Patent No. 8,325,738, for technology covering web-based calling, including initiating a call recording, playing a pre-recorded voicemail, bridging a call, and creating a third-party conference call on web-based call sessions. InsideSales.com said the patent would affect every industry using web based telephony features including the inside sales and telemarketing industry. According to the USPTO, the patent was actually issued December 4, 2012, and had been filed in May of 2007; inventors on the patent are Thomas Jeffrey Purdy, Dave Elkington, Matthew Coston Parker, and Kenneth David Krogue. The title on the patent is "Apparatus system and method for web-based phone services." InsideSales.com did not say how aggressively it plans to pursue licensing of the patent.
