IHS Buys Two Firms

IHS Inc., a provider of product lifecycle management and environmental analysis and information, announced Monday that it has acquired one environmental data company and has agreed to purchase another for a combined transaction amount of $43.5 million. Specifically, IHS said it bought Dolphin Software of Lake Oswego, Ore., for $23.5 million in cash. That transaction closed Monday, IHS noted. IHS also said it has signed a definitive agreement to purchase Environmental Software Providers of Mountain View, Calif., for some $20 million in cash. That deal, which is subject to shareholder approval and other customary closing conditions, is expected to close later this month, IHS added. Founded in 1959, IHS is headquartered in Englewood, Colo., and employs more than 3,000 people in 35 locations across the globe.
