IHS Buys Oil and Gas Information Assets

Englewood, Colorado-based IHS, a provider of energy and other data, said today that it has acquired the current inventory of digital log and raster image assets of Reservoir Visualization, a consultancy focused on data for the oil and gas industry. IHS said it paid $4.1M in cash for the assets. Texas-based Reservoir Visualization's logs are used for generating subsurface models used for oil and gas prospecting.
